This Reader Made Solar Eclipse Goody Baskets on the Cheap

Eclipse gift baskets made by a Happy Friday reader

This reader-made solar eclipse gift baskets, thanks to a few money-saving deals. 💫

There is a total solar eclipse headed our way on April 8th and the Hip community hopes it will be out of this world! The path of the eclipse will travel over 13 states and people all over the country are gearing up for what promises to be a fun and memorable event.

This week’s Happy Friday reader, Kyra, came up with a brilliant idea to celebrate! She created eclipse-themed gift baskets to share with her crew.

Here’s how Kyra did it!

“I’m attending an eclipse event called Alpacaclipse at a local farm and wanted to make goody bags to commemorate the big day.”

“I used a recent CVS deal I saw on Hip2Save to get free photos that I used to make magnets from local eclipse ads I collected. I used a 50% off coupon from Joann’s to buy the magnet paper and a 50% off coupon from Michaels to get the clear mini bags for the black and white golden Oreos. I had the stickers and ribbon, but hit up Dollar General for the bigger clear bags. I also waited until local grocery stores had sales on the gum, Sun chips, and Sunny D.

Hoping for good weather on April 8, but even if it’s cloudy, we will have snacks! 🌖”

We love this idea, Kyra! 😍

There may be an eclipse happening, but these snack-filled gift baskets may end up being the star of the show! ✨

We thought it was so clever how you filled each basket with space-themed items like Milky Way bars, Sunny D, Sun Chips, Eclipse gum, and even Oreos that are coated to look like an eclipse.

Thanks for taking the time to share your goody baskets with us! You are so thoughtful to make these for your friends and family. 💕

Want to celebrate the eclipse like Kyra?

To watch the eclipse, you’re going to need some solar glasses like Kyra. That’s because looking at the eclipse directly can severely damage your eyes. Check out our recent solar eclipse post to read all about the eclipse plus where to buy or score FREE solar glasses.

If you’re interested in making goody bags of your own, try some of the following deals that are available right now:

If you’re not finding too many deals on food items, consider scooping up space-themed toys like galaxy bouncing balls or stickers.

You can also still score a discount at Joann’s on their magnet paper. Plus, Joann’s has several coupons you can use. You may be able to find coupons for your local Michaels too!

Thank you, Kyra! 🙌

We LOVED this goody bag idea and really appreciate you writing in to share it! Your crew will be over the moon to open these yummy gifts! Enjoy the eclipse! We hope you and all our other Hip readers have an absolute blast on Monday! Thanks, again, Kyra! ❤️
