Heidi Duckler Dance 4D Film Festival Student Filmmaker Screening

Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) is thrilled to continue the 4D Film Festival, a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to the intersection of dance and cinema. This year’s festival spotlights dance films created by emerging student filmmakers. It will showcase fresh perspectives and bold storytelling through movement and cinematic expression.

On Friday, March 13 at 7:00 PM, audiences are invited to join them for free for an enchanting rooftop screening on the iconic Bendix Rooftop, where the city skyline becomes the backdrop for a night of dance, film, and community.

Experience cinema under the stars on the Bendix rooftop where the skyline becomes your backdrop and the night air sets the scene. Arrive early for Quack Games, a lively pre-show trivia challenge, and enjoy snacks and refreshments as the film screening begins. After the screening, audience members will vote in our Audience Choice Award, selecting a winning film from the evening’s lineup. The winner will receive a one-day free rental of the Bendix rooftop space.

As part of HDD’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists, the 4D Film Festival provides a space where dance, film, and community converge for an unforgettable cinematic experience.

About Heidi Duckler Dance:

Founded in 1985, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) is a pioneer in site-specific, interdisciplinary performance. HDD develops and rehearses each multi-sensory work in the exact location where it is performed, transforming overlooked and unconventional spaces across Los Angeles County into stages for artistic expression.

Guided by principles of freedom, inclusivity, and community, HDD amplifies diverse artistic voices. And it reimagines the relationship between audience, place, and performance. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, education, and civic engagement, HDD advances spatial justice. It supports holistic well-being by creating meaningful opportunities for community members and students to access public and private spaces they may not otherwise experience.

Over the past 40 years, HDD’s Executive Director Heidi Duckler has created over 800 original works locally, nationally, and internationally. HDD has brought performances to neighborhoods across Los Angeles. These include Downtown LA, Boyle Heights, Koreatown, Studio City, Van Nuys, Hollywood, Venice, San Pedro, and South LA. Her work has also been recognized globally in Hong Kong, Russia, Montreal, Germany, Australia, Cuba, and Chile.

This year, HDD was awarded grants for upcoming performances and arts education initiatives from the LA County Department of Arts and Culture, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, New Music/USA, and the cities of West Hollywood, Burbank, and Culver City. HDD produces more than 40 original productions annually and serves thousands of diverse residents each year.
