Ex-Congressman George Santos is selling $150 videos on Cameo

George Santos appears to have launched an account on Cameo just days after being expelled from Congress.

In Santos’s Cameo profile, the ex-member of the U.S. House of Representatives, a Republican from New York, describes himself as a “former congressional icon” and as “the expelled member of Congress from New York City.”

Cameo is a platform where people can purchase personalized videos from celebrities and other well-known people. The messages are often intended as gifts for others. Cameo creators set their own prices for a personalized video, ranging from $1 to $999. Santos began selling videos for $75 each, but has since raised his fee to $150.

There are not many current or former politicians on Cameo. Sarah Palin, a former governor of Alaska and past vice presidential candidate, is perhaps the most notable political name on the platform.

The House of Representatives expelled Santos on Dec. 1 after the House Ethics Committee found evidence of lawbreaking, making him just the sixth U.S. lawmaker in history to be expelled from Congress. The panel found “substantial evidence” that funds from Santos’s campaign were used to pay his personal credit-card bills, buy luxury goods from Hermes and make purchases on OnlyFans, among other items.

“This will haunt them in the future where mere allegations are sufficient to have members removed from Congress when duly elected by their people in their respective states and districts,” Santos said at a news conference on Capitol Hill last week prior to the vote.

Santos has remained active on social media following his expulsion from Congress, posting several times on Monday morning.

Representatives for Cameo and Santos did not immediately respond to request for comment from MarketWatch.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, is set to call a special election for Santos’s House seat in the coming days.

Some people took to social media to poke fun at Santos’s Cameo account.
