Donald Trump‘s appearance at the 2024 Republican National Convention has sparked social media conversations, but not about his nomination. According to a new social media video that’s been circulating on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Republican nominee appeared to have closed his eyes, and many believe he fell asleep for a moment.

Did Trump Fall Asleep at the 2024 RNC?

Although the video shows that Trump’s eyes were closed, multiple commenters pointed out that the clip was captured during a prayer.

“That was during the prayer,” one person tweeted. “Notice how the next speaker was the one after the priest.”

Others, however, came to his defense and noted that he had been struck by a bullet two days prior. Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet shot by Thomas Matthew Crooks. Two other people were injured, and one person was fatally shot at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“The man lost part of his ear only 48 hours ago. Imagine the trauma,” one person tweeted, while another added, “Dude got shot two days ago, doubt he’s slept.”

Other commenters even called Trump “Sleepy Don,” as a reference to what President Joe Biden‘s critics called him: “Sleepy Joe.”
