The new season of Mayor of Kingstown rolled in in June, and the storyline picked off right where it left. It’s as if we didn’t wait a whole year to start watching the first episode of season 3. But it’s not just about the death of Miriam; a new character, Konstantin Noskov, enters into the picture, killing Tatiana and taking her infant son. One question that he asks before executing Tatiana is why her loyalty changed. This shows that the third season will also focus on Konstantin, and honestly, it was only a matter of time before another person replaced Milo, which helped shed more light on Iris’s past life.
The Mayor of Kingstown is captivating in part because of its nuanced style and ability to keep spectators on the edge of their seats. It’s obvious that operating a successful, respectable business in the area is challenging. Given that, it was just a matter of time until either Bunny’s cousin Rhonda or her prosperous salon venture went down.
If the business had been affected, it would have been a better situation since this meant that the owner could begin afresh. However, once Rhonda dies, it means Bunny will search high and low for the murderer, thereby leading to possible innocent casualties. Secondly, Mike and Bunny have always had a harmonious relationship, which makes it difficult for him to keep peace and still give Bunny the revenge he requires without resulting in more violence.
Mike will always face major hurdles because of Bunny’s extensive ties within the community and his readiness to resort to violence in order to further his objectives. Furthermore, there was also bound to be some friction between them on account of their diverse goals, and Kingstown was filled with complex meshes of alliances and rivalries. What sacrifices should Bunny make, or who must he kill in order to achieve his ambitions beyond Kingstown?
Is Merle Callahan a More Dangerous Foe?
Callahan affects Mike’s ability to manage the town just like Bunny does but in different ways, adding layers of conflict and jeopardy that Mike must negotiate all through Season 3. However, Merle Callahan’s influence continues to be undeniable. He controls a large chunk of prison territories and even outside its wall. From his first appearance on this TV show, Callahan has always been portrayed as cunning and one step ahead of his enemies. But it wasn’t until season 3 that his power over both inmates and correction officers was truly revealed.
Callahan also stood out from other AB leaders in Kingstown when he gave advice to younger AB members and showed his importance by quickly arranging a transfer from Millhaven to Anchor Bay in just a few hours. In addition, in the previous seasons, the narrative that was played out was that correction officers would have attacked inmates but never their colleagues. It wasn’t until Callahan entered into the picture that this dynamic quickly shifted.
Are Better Days Coming for Mike and Bunny?
The Mayor of Kingstown has always been a show about taking responsibility and accepting one’s judgments, leadership, and the chain of command. And at its epicenter is Mayor Mike. His duty is to keep balance among the multiple criminal factions in the jail as well as within the town surrounding it. He plays the roles of intermediary, negotiator, and enforcer, ensuring that conflicts are resolved while power dynamics remain constant.
This encompasses activities like interacting with drug smugglers, resolving disputes, and working closely with law enforcement agencies as well as inmates to maintain order. Mike’s position requires him to know about criminal underworlds and how to navigate through intricate situations full of danger.

However, things do not look good for Bunny and Mike, particularly with Callahan being featured among the season’s most dangerous villains. Mediators like Mike, who aim to maintain balance, are of no use to him and his likes. But Merle shows that he’s not that difficult to work with, especially when his enemies are not coming for him or his business. So he suggests to Mike that there is a possibility of achieving balance, but it means targeting Bunny Washington. In short, he is implying that the threats and challenges for both Mike and Bunny are far from over.
