A Red, White & Royal Wedding Is Coming to Prime Video

Oh God, how big of a cake will fall on them this time? The name of the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel has been announced: get ready for Red, White & Royal Wedding. Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez are back as the international cuties Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz. Or as Vulture’s Jackson Henry called them when the 2023 film debuted, “Snooty Blonde Prince and Self-Important Son of Texas President.” Not returning is Matthew López as director. According to People, But I’m a Cheerleader’s Jamie Babbit is directing the sequel — from a script by Gemma Burgess, López, and the source material’s author Casey McQuiston.

Details on the plot (besides the pretty obvi clue in the title) are scarce. The first film ended with Prince Henry finally able to come out, and Alex’s mom winning reelection. Does two years feel a little rushed to be getting married? Maybe Alex and Henry want to get married before the Supreme Court potentially hears the case to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges. Sorry to be a bummer. This should be a joyous fictional gay wedding. We’ll let you know more once we get a release date for Red, White & Royal Wedding.
